Becoming acquainted with the new you!

We receive a new nature when we accept Jesus as our savior. We become a new creation in Christ, the old has passed away, and the new has come. (2 Corinthians 5:17) It’s a fresh start to live your life for Christ. Jesus has wiped away all of our sins and put inside us a new self that can commune with God. Our slate is clean.

We need to learn about our new selves. The Bible has much to say about our unique nature in Christ. God knit you together in your mother’s womb (Psalm 139:13-14). You are a chosen child of God, a royal priesthood (I Peter 2:9). God predestined you for adoption (Ephesians 1:5). The Apostle Paul tells us that we have an inheritance as a child of God that can never perish, fade or spoil, and it is kept in heaven for us! (I Peter 1:4)

God has given the new you benefit in the spiritual realm, and they are something to shout about.

  • I am the daughter of a King!
  • I am a new creation in Christ!
  • God predestined me for adoption into the family of God!

You may have to repeat these statements to yourself often before your mind can fully grasp the wonderful gifts that you have received.

You are forgiven and set free and made alive in Christ! Set free from the punishment of sin. You now have eternal life with Jesus. Jesus humbled himself and took on the form of a servant, lived a sinless life, and died a brutal death to save us. Through Christ, we have victory over death, hell, and the grave. For as in the first Adam we all died, we will be made alive in the second Adam, Jesus. (I Corinthians 15:22). The promised gift of salvation and eternal life are part of our new nature that we received through Christ. We have a unique spiritual body. This precious gift comes from God because he loves us. There was nothing we could ever do to earn or deserve this gift.

We are declared “not guilty” of sin; this enables us to stand before God without judgment or condemnation. The weight of sin has been rolled off our shoulders. We have a new life, spirit, and energy that comes from our assurance in the work of the cross. The old you, along with the sinful nature, has been removed. God removes these sins as far as the east is from the west. Don’t listen to the lies of the enemy that will try to dredge up your past.

When he does remind him:

  • You are the daughter of a king!
  • God adopted you into His family!
  • You are a new creation, the old has passed away, and the new has come! Spend time with God getting to know the new you!
